Cuchulainns 6-09, Garryowen 1-08

By Damian Dolan.

Hot on the heels of Heston Gaels’ impressive four-goal demolition of Tara, Cuchulainns responded to the challenge by duly hammering Garryowen for six to set up a mouth-watering Intermediate Championship final.

A year after climbing the balcony steps at Ruislip to collect the Junior Championship trophy, Cuchullains now have the chance to make it back-to-back titles. A rare feat indeed.

And they should have every confidence that they can do just that on this evidence.

Cuchulainns may have lost Chris Eastwood from last year’s side, but they’ve unearthed a more than capable replacement in Robbie Croft and he had too much power and skill for Garryowen to handle at Ruislip on Sunday.

The former Dublin Minor grabbed a hat-trick, laid two others on a plate for teammates and even had time to miss a penalty. Heston have been warned, and his match up in the final with London back Kevin Lynam could be worth the admission money alone.
