Glasgow survived a last minute bombardment to edge out Birmingham in a close and competitive Ladies Division Three final at Pairc na hEireann on Saturday.

Both Universities had entered into the climactic stage of the tournament after shut out victories in their semi-final matches. The semi-final contests were a true emphasise of two teams with a clinical offence and a stone wall defence.

Birmingham highlighted these cruise control victories by beating local rivals Aston with a destructive score of 6-3 to 0-0, while Glasgow flew by their semi-final stage with an impressive win over Brighton with a score of 2-2 to 0-0.

As the game kicked off, Birmingham seemed the brighter on their home territory with the midland side blasting forward with numbers and conviction. An early goal was a deserved moment for the home side after a mistake by the Glasgow goalkeeper left Eva Hicks with an easy finish to put her side in front.
