Who’ll graduate from school of hard knocks?

University of Glasgow

By Ronan McCarthy

It’s British University Gaelic Football Championship time again, and let’s hope the rain and snow can hold back for a few weeks so all the pitches are in good condition for three weeks of blood and guts from all male and female British University Gaelic Football players.

First up on the weekend of February 8/9/10 we have Men's Division One, with the winners then participating in the Trench Cup in Ireland. In last year’s BUGAA tournament, champions Liverpool Hope were beaten finalists.

In Division One this year we have six teams fighting for the title. Five of these teams – St Mary's, Northumbria, Napier, John Moores and Hope – are well known for putting up a good fight in Division One, but we have a dark horse this year in the form of University of Glasgow (pictured above). Glasgow won the Division Two Championship last year and seem to be getting stronger.
