110 organisations get total of £5.4m in emigrant funding grants

TÁNAISTE Eamon Gilmore announced £5.4m of Irish government funding for organisations in this country under its Emigrant Support Programme –   a five per cent cut on the 2012 grants.

The money is going to 110 charities with £4.2 million going to welfare organisations, 79 will receive less than £50,000.  The largest recipient is the London Irish Centre, which was awarded £557,000.

This year funding has also been made available to business networks like the IIBN.
